CHICAGO—The saying “when White folks catch a cold, Black folks get pneumonia” proves true in Chicago. Out of 9,113 Covid-19 cases and 308 deaths Blacks make up 3,124 of the cases and 199 deaths. Blacks make up only 29 percent of the city’s population. Alarmed city and state officials say they are doing what they can to address the problem but there is a lack of health resources and services in predominately Black communities.
